Hope Independent Ministries was founded in the year 2000 by Bishop Abel J. Kortje and his family, born from a passion to bring the message of Christ to the heart of the community.What began humbly—in family homes, school classrooms, a civic centre, and even a local sports club in Voorbrug, Delft—quickly grew as lives were touched and transformed. A turning point came when the Municipality of Wesbank granted land for the ministry, paving the way for growth.Thanks to the generous support of Judea Harvest, a Christian organization that equips churches across Africa, our first one-pole tent—seating 120 people—was erected. This marked the beginning of a permanent home for our church family.Over the years, we moved from a wooden structure to the blessed building we now occupy, completed in 2015. With God’s grace and continued support, we also launched the Hope Centre Educare Facility, again in partnership with Judea Harvest, providing a foundation of faith and education for our children.Today, Hope Independent Ministries extends its reach through branches in Leiden Delft, Cape Town, and Swaziland, and we continue to expand with new church plants in Eersteriver and the Blue Downs region.Our story is one of faith in action, and we believe the best is yet to come.
